Latency

The time delay between when a signal is produced at the source to when it is received at the destination. In telecommunications, it's most easily thought of as the time it takes for the call media to reach the other end of the line. High latency manifests as a noticeable delay in audio. Latency above 150ms is generally considered noticable during a phone conversation.
